A severe cyclone with 150 MPH hit the city of Visakhapatnam, India. The torrential rains have pounded the city right from wee hours of Sunday. The cyclone made land fall in the port city of Visakhapatnam (Vizag) at noon Sunday. Officials said that this is the biggest disaster to have ever hit Visakhapatnam. Glass from the blown windows covered the streets everywhere in the city.
A staff member at HMI headquarters in Mori, India, reported that he talked to one of our relatives that lives in the city of Vizag before the storm made landfall. She said that the wind was so strong, most of their pots and pans were blown away and she couldn't even find them. It was very hard to shut the open doors because of the strong the winds. That is the last contact our staff had and afterwards the communications were cut off.
Our Children’s home which is in the city of Vizag is less than two miles from the coast, where the cyclone made landfall. We don’t have any news of any damage to our children or the buildings. We hope and pray that all of our children are safe. Please pray for God to help all those who are affected.
